Residence permit applications

You received a temporary asylum residence permit from the IND. This is valid for five years. After that, you need a new document.

After 4.5 years, you can do the following:

Apply for renewal of your temporary asylum residence permit (again for 5 years).
Apply for permanent residence permit asylum (you need it to become a Dutch citizen).

Temporary residence permit

On the IND's site you can see how to apply for this residence permit, check out the procedure. This application does not cost any money. There are also fewer conditions than with the permanent residence permit.

Residence permit indefinitely

A permanent residence permit allows you to become a Dutch citizen. You don't just get a permanent residence permit. The IND makes the decision. They set the following conditions for that.

If you receive benefits, some municipalities allow you to apply for special assistance for these expenses. To do this, go to the municipality where you live.
